This is us. Bet you were dying to meet us.
This is Nico listening to some music at age two. He is 23 now, though he hasn't changed much. He met Pablo in their freshmen year at the university and decided to become his friend when he found a whiskey bottle in his backpack pocket. He plays the guitar, loves philosophy and mathematics and has a Gödel poster in his room to remind him he has yet much to learn. When Bruno quit his job programming php at a small company, Nico felt it was his time to prove he could do something more tangible than calculating a Hausdorff distance and suceeded Bruno. Needless to say he quit too, after all Hausdorff distances didn't require him to wake up so early in the morning and shouldn't be underestimated.
This is Luz at age four. She befriended Pablo, Bruno and Nico out of sheer talkativeness. She studies mechanical engineering but swears she'll never trade her laptop for a wrench. She is tiny, freckled and hyperactive and has a cat named after Speed Racer. She can never wake up before noon which drives Nico and Pablo more than a little mad. They surrender to her charms though, and always serve her breakfast in bed; yes, life is built on these small victories. Luz also likes physics and applied mathematics and is in love with National Geographic photography. She would love to keep on studying after graduating, travel around the world and experiment zero gravity.
This is Pablo at age two, sitting in his nappies in front of his first computer. His father and uncles being a bunch of geeks, he doesn't remember when he decided to become a computer engineer; the rest of us are almost certain that if it wasn't the day he was born it was the day after, but not much later. He lives in the teeniest appartment downtown which usually functions as headquarters for all our projects. You can call him any time and be sure he's skipping classes to work in something he'll call "much more productive" and will certainly invite you to come over and join. He loves modular origami and web design (he also loves maths, physics and artificial intelligence but doesn't really understand any of them), and he dreams of never having to work in a cubicle and adopting a pet hedgehog.
This is Bruno, commonly referred to as the guy who sneezes and a website appears just out of the blue. He met Pablo at the university and they became friends while working on neverending assignments. He always remembers how he finished a flight booking program while Pablo talked Luz into going out with him and laughs, though we doubt he laughed so much at the time. He does the most amazing magic tricks, which Luz can't yet figure out, and loves electronic music. You will never find him far from his cellphone which has every functionality except flipping pancakes by tossing them into the air (yet). He was the first of us to preach that programming for scarcely more than food was ditch-digging slavery.
